German Sweet-Sour Beans
|Onion||1 Cup (16 tbs), minced|
|Green beans||1 Pound|
|Vinegar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
1. In a large saucepan, sauté the onion in butter till transparent and then stir in flour until smooth.
Drain beans and reserve 1/2 cup bean liquid.
2. Stir reserved bean liquid, 1/4 cup water and vinegar into onion mixture gradually and mix well to make a thick paste. Cook while stirring until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened. Add seasonings and beans; heat through.
3. Fry bacon until crisp; drain and crumble. Sprinkle bacon over bean mixture.
4. Serve hot immediately
