|Brown sugar||1 Tablespoon|
|Chopped onion||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Chopped apple||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Green cabbage||2 Pound, chopped or shredded|
|Caraway seed||To Taste|
|Beef stock/Other stock||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Dry white wine||3 Tablespoon|
|Cider vinegar/Wine vinegar||2 Tablespoon (to taste)|
|Freshly ground black pepper||To Taste|
In a very large frying pan over medium heat, brown bacon.
Add sugar and stir until melted.
Add onion and apple and simmer a few minutes.
Stir in cabbage and caraway seeds thoroughly; pour in stock.
Cover and simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Just before serving, stir in wine and vinegar to taste.
Add salt and pepper as desired.
