Easy Schaum Torte
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Have egg whites at room temperature.
Sift sugar once, measure.
Beat whites slowly at first, then increase speed and beat until stiff.
Add sugar in five parts, beating well after each addition.
Beat in vinegar and vanilla.
Draw two circles size of an 8-inch layer pan on white paper which has been placed on cookie sheets.
Using spoon, drop meringue within circles spreading to uniform thickness and making swirls over the top.
Bake 30 minutes in a very slow oven (300° F.) leaving oven door open slightly.
Turn off heat and allow meringue to dry out in oven for 30 minutes longer.
Spread crushed sweetened strawberries on one layer.
Top with the other layer.
Garnish top with whole berries, stems on.
Makes 10 servings.
