Grilled German Brat Burgers

Ingredients
  Bratwurst links 12 Ounce (4 Pieces)
  Coarsely chopped onion 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Beer 12 Ounce (1 Can / 1 1/2 Cups)
  Shredded sharp natural cheddar cheese 2 Ounce (1/2 Cup)
  Frankfurter buns 4 , buttered
  Bacon slices 4 , crisp cooked, drained and crumbled
Directions

In 10-inch skillet brown the bratwurst over medium heat. (Electric skillet 300°.)
Add onion and beer; simmer, uncovered, for 20 to 30 minutes.
Remove links; slit each lengthwise.
Discard beer.
Fill with cheese; place in buns.
Place each in a foil 'boat,' leaving cheese side open.
Return to skillet; cover and heat (250°) till cheese melts, about 2 minutes.
Top with bacon.
