German Marinated Beef
|Boneless beef top round steak||2 Pound, about 1 inch thick|
|All purpose flour||3 Tablespoon|
|Onion||1 Medium, thinly sliced|
|Red wine vinegar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Vegetable oil||2 Tablespoon|
|Whole mixed pickling spices||2 Teaspoon|
|Gingersnaps crumbs||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Dairy sour cream||2 Tablespoon|
Pierce beef thoroughly with fork.
Place flour in nylon cooking bag.
Shake to coat.
Top with onion.
In 2-cup measure, mix wine vinegar, water, honey, oil, pickling spice and salt.
Pour over steak and onion.
Secure bag with nylon tie or string.
Knead bag to mix in flour.
Place bag on plate.
Refrigerate for at least 24 hours, turning bag over once or twice.
Place beef in bag in 9-inch square baking dish in microwave oven.
Microwave at High for 5 minutes.
Microwave at 50% (Medium) for 40 to 50 minutes, or until beef is tender, turning beef over once.
Let stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
Remove beef to serving platter.
Pour 1 cup gravy over beef.
Sprinkle beef with gingersnap crumbs.
Top with sour cream.
Serve remaining gravy with beef.
