Spicy Chocolate Loaf

Ingredients
  Semi-sweet chocolate 2 Ounce
  Flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Eggs 2
  Applesauce 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Nutmeg 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Nuts 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), chopped
Directions

Melt chocolate; set aside.
Grease and flour a 9" x 5" loaf pan; set aside.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixer bowl, combine all ingredients except chocolate and nuts.
Beat 3 minutes with electric mixer on medium speed.
Stir in melted chocolate and nuts.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 50 to 55 minutes.
Remove from pan; cool thoroughly before slicing.
