Fudge Macaroon Bars
|Unsweetened chocolate square||4 Ounce (Four 1 Ounce Pieces)|
|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs) (No Substitutes)|
|Sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
|Eggs||3 , lightly beaten|
|Flaked coconut||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Sweetened condensed milk||14 Ounce (1 Can)|
|Almond extract||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Semi sweet chocolate chips||6 Ounce (1 Cup)|
|Chopped walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
In a saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and butter.
Remove from the heat; cool slightly.
Stir in the sugar, flour, salt, vanilla and eggs; mix well.
Spread half of the batter into a greased 13-in x 9-in x 2-in baking pan.
In a bowl, combine the filling ingredients.
Spoon over chocolate layer.
Carefully spread remaining chocolate mixture over filling.
Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until the sides pull away from the pan.
Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips.
Allow chips to soften for a few minutes, then spread over bars.
Sprinkle with walnuts.
Cool completely before cutting.
