Bottled milk/1/4 cup evaporated milk and 1/4 cup water
1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
White corn syrup
1 Cup (16 tbs)
Put the sugar, maple syrup, milk, and corn syrup into a saucepan.
Cook, stirring constantly, to 238°F or until a little of the mixture dropped in cold water forms a soft ball.
Drop in the butter, but do not stir it in.
Set aside to cool, without stirring, to 110°F., or until the candy is lukewarm.
Add the vanilla, then beat with a spoon or with an electric beater at medium speed until the mixture loses its gloss, and a small amount dropped from a spoon holds its shape.
Add the walnuts.
Then pour the mixture into a greased or oiled pan about 9" x 5" x 3", and when cool, cut into squares.
