|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Applesauce||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Pecans||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Sift flour with salt and spices; dredge raisins and gumdrops with small amount of flour mixture.
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add remaining flour mixture alternately with applesauce.
Combine soda, 1 tablespoon hot water and vanilla, stirring until soda is dissolved.
Add to batter, mixing well.
Mix in raisins, gumdrops and pecans.
Spoon batter into 3 foil-lined loaf pans.
Bake at 325 degrees for 2 hours.
Store in tightly covered container.
Do not use black gumdrops in cake
