Honey Orange Crisps
|Shortening||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Honey||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Orange juice||2 Tablespoon|
|Orange||1⁄2 Teaspoon, extract|
|Cake flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
Cream shortening and sugar together.
Add egg, honey and ginger, mixing until smooth.
Mix in orange juice and extract.
Sift flour and add slowly, beating well between each addition.
Roll out very thin on a lightly floured pastry cloth and cut with various shaped cookie cutters.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in moderate oven (350Â°F.) 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes about 10 dozen 2 inch cookies.
Ground fresh coconut sprinkled over the top of the unbaked cutout gives an attractive flavor, or frost with Cream Cheese Spread, top with candied peel.
