|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Ripe papaya||3 Cup (48 tbs), chopped|
|Lime juice||2 Tablespoon|
Combine sugar and water in a heavy saucepan, cook over medium heat 15 minutes, stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens.
Add papaya and lime juice, simmer 20 minutes, stirring frequently, until mixture is reduced by half.
Serve over pound cake.
