Ingredients
  Mixed dried fruit 1 Pound (500 Gram)
  Soft brown sugar 1 Ounce (220 Gram)
  Soaking liquid 1⁄2 Pint, cold (300 Milliliter)
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Orange marmalade 2 Tablespoon (Chunky)
  Self raising flour 1 Pound (500 Gram)
  Ground cinnamon 2 Teaspoon
Directions

Soak the fruit and sugar in the chosen liquid for several hours, preferably overnight.
Grease and base-line one 1 kg/2 lb loaf-tin.
Stir in the beaten egg, the marmalade, then the flour sifted with the cinnamon.
Transfer to the prepared tin, level the top and bake at 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4 for 90-100 minutes.
Cool for a few minutes in the tin before turning out on to a wire rack.
Serve sliced, with butter.
