A simple to make Summer Berry Crisp recipe.
Have I mentioned that I love desserts? Well, I do!
This recipe is great when you're looking for a yummy dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth, but you don't want to over indulge.
It's not super sweet because I don't like to over power the fresh, yummy berries with too much sugar. Although, if you find that your berries are not super sweet themselves, you might want to add just a little more sugar to help them along!
You could also use frozen berries in this recipe, not only would they taste great but they would save you a few bucks as well...Enjoy!
5 Cup (80 tbs)
1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
Whole wheat flour
1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
1 Cup (16 tbs)
1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Preheat oven to 350.
In a large bowl, combine berries with ¼ cup of the brown sugar and 2 tbsp. of flour.
In a separate bowl combine remaining sugar, flour, oats, flax seeds, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in the canola oil and work with your finger tips until the mixture is moist. Stir in almonds.
Pour berries into a 9-inch pie pan and top with the oat mixture. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until berries are bubbly (yum)...enjoy!
Are berries good for me? Research does show that berries are among the fruits highest in antioxidant content and that they are excellent sources of several phytochemicals that seem to help block cancer development. However, other fruits and vegetables provide different nutrients and phytochemicals with unique health benefits. The best advice, then, is to eat berries often for their great taste and health boost, but stay focused on the main goal of eating a wide variety of produce every day.
Do you love dessert? Here is a recipe of healthy dessert, which you are surely going to enjoy for any special family occasion. The combination of apple and fruits with oats and whole wheat flour offers plenty of nutritional contents. Taste wise it is too good when serve with vanilla ice cream.
