Pineapple Fluff Dessert

Ingredients
  Vanilla wafer crumbs 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
  Chopped walnuts 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), melted
  Canned crushed pineapple 1 1⁄4 Pound (1 Can, 2 1/2 Cups)
  Lemon gelatin 3 Ounce (1 Package)
  Egg yolks 4 , slightly beaten
  Butter/Margarine 2 Tablespoon
  Egg whites 4
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Mix crumbs, nuts, and melted butter; reserve 1/4 CUP mixture.
Press remainder in bottom of 10 x 6 x 1 1/2-inch dish; chill.
Mix pineapple (with syrup), gelatin, and egg yolks; cook and stir till mixture thickens slightly.
Stir in 2 tablespoons butter.
Chill till partially set.
Beat egg whites with salt to soft peaks; gradually add sugar, beating to stiff peaks.
Fold into pineapple mixture.
Pour over crust; sprinkle with reserved crumbs.
Chill till set.
Cut in squares.
