Gran Paula's Austrian Fruit Slice

A recipe for an Austrian dessert passed on to Helen by family friend and Austrian grandmother Gran Paula. Gran Paula's Fruit Slice has been a family favourite for years.
Ingredients
  Pastry margarine 1⁄4 Pound (Eg Stork)
  Pastry 1⁄4 Pound
  Plain flour 1⁄2 Pound
  Ice cold water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Dried fruit 1⁄2 Pound
  Cherries 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Candied peel 1 Tablespoon
  Ground almonds 1⁄2 Pound
  Sugar 4 Ounce
  Eggs 2 , beaten
Directions

Heat oven to 180C
Cook for 25 - 35 minutes until golden brown.
