Purple Plum Crunch
|Purple plums||5 Cup (80 tbs), pitted and quartered|
|Packed brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|All purpose flour||1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground mace||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Egg||1 , well beaten|
|Butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted and cooled|
Put plums into an ungreased 2-quart shallow baking dish.
Sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, and cinnamon; mix gently with a fork.
To prepare topping, sift together 1 cup flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and mace.
Add to the beaten egg and stir with a fork until mixture is crumbly; sprinkle evenly over plums in baking dish.
Pour the melted butter evenly over top.
Bake at 375F 40 to 45 minutes, or until topping is lightly browned.
