Dairy Free Mocha Frosting

Ingredients
  Milk free margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Confectioners sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Cocoa powder 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Instant coffee 3 Tablespoon
Directions

MAKING
1) In a bowl, cream the sugar and margarine,until the mixture is fluffy.
2) Beat in the instant coffee and cocoa powder, until the thickened.

SERVING
3) Use the frosting to frost a 9-inch layer cake.

Hi, i have a hopefully quick question :) Regarding the instant coffee - is this it coffee or the stuff you add to water to make coffee? I usually use an espresso extract, so i'm not sure what is supposed to go in here. Thank you in advance for any help, i am so happy to find dairy free frostings! I have missed cake and all the cupcakes everyone but me can eat :)
