Creamy Chocolate Frosting
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Chocolate square||9 Ounce (unsweetened)|
|Milk||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs) (scalded)|
|Sugar||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs), sifted, firmly packed|
Place butter and chocolate in top of double boiler and heat over boiling water until melted.
Pour the hot milk over sugar and salt and stir until completely dissolved.
Add chocolate mixture and stir to blend.
Beat while still hot and thin with a wooden spoon until of the proper consistency to spread.
(Add vanilla when mixture begins to thicken.) Spread on cake when thick and creamy.
Enough for 8 1/4 x 12-inch single layer cake.
