Kiwifruit Fritters

  All purpose flour 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Baking powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Chinese five spice powder 1 Teaspoon
  Water 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Vegetable oil 1 Tablespoon
  Black sesame seeds 1 Teaspoon
  Kiwifruit 6 , each peeled and cut into 6 wedges
  Cornstarch 1 Tablespoon
  Vegetable oil 2 Cup (32 tbs) (For Deep Frying)
  Powdered sugar 4 Tablespoon

1. Stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and five-spice in a medium bowl. Gradually stir in the water. Add the vegetable oil and blend with a wire whisk until smooth. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Stir in the sesame seeds. Pat the kiwifruit wedges dry with paper towels. Sprinkle them with cornstarch just before you are ready to cook them.
2. Set a wok in a ring stand and add oil to a depth of about 2 inches. Heat the oil to 375° and adjust the heat to medium-high. Using chopsticks or a fork to spear them, dip the kiwifruit slices into the batter. Let the excess batter drip off, then gently lower the fruit into the hot oil. Stirring occasionally, cook several pieces at a time until golden brown and puffy, about 2 minutes. Lift the fritters out and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
