French Silk Pie

French Silk Pie is a very delicious pie, often made sweet, especially using softened butter, white sugar, vanilla extract, eggs and sweetened whipped cream. A hot favorite for many over a couple of decades, French silk pie is often made on a single pie crust. The flaky crust along with its sweetened whipped cream filling and with the sometimes chocolate toppings, gives the French silk pie a melt-in-the-mouth texture. In fact, the French silk pie owes its name to the silky-fine and smooth texture it displays. The ordinary French silk pie doesn’t always include chocolate in any of its bar, syrup or chip forms, instead it is the chocolate French silk pie, a close variation of the original, that makes melted unsweetened or semisweet baking chocolate a must in the recipe.
