French Coffee

 

French Coffee is a type of alcoholic coffee drink  served as a  deessert cocktail drink usually after a meal. The coffee based liquers like this have gained immense popularity in recent times due to the ease of preparation. Normally regular coffee is used in the preparation of the beverage but at times instant coffee is used too. This coffee beverage belongs to the league of spirited coffee.

 

Preparation of French Coffee and its Serving Suggestions

Black coffee, whipped cream, sugar, Cointreu orange liqueur, and Kahlua coffee liqueur are the ingredients commonly used in the preparation of the coffee. The hot black coffee, Cointreu Orange liqueur and Kahlua are mixed in an Irish coffee cup and sweetened.

This drink is often served in special glass with a topping of whipped cream and sugar.The drink is served with whipped cream floating on the top. The choice of liqueur may largely vary according to the availability and taste preferences.

 

French Coffee Recipe Variations

  • Grand Coffee: This is one of the popular variations of the beverage and it is prepared by combining hot coffee, warmed Grand Mariner and whipped cream. The toffee and hazelnut tones of the Grand Mariner add smoothness to this drink. This French coffee variant derives its uniqueness from the orange flavor imbibed in the drink.  
  • Coffee with Aragamanac Parfait: This drink variant is normally served as an icy dessert and it combines the goodness of strong coffee and dry brandy. The dessert drink is mostly served in parfait glasses for unique outlook. The beverage is prepared using the egg yolks, water, coffee extract, granulated sugar, heavy whipping cream and Armagnac. The drink preparation is not a tedious task but it is indeed a lengthy process.
  • French Cocktail Coffee 1: This French Coffee variant uses cognac for liqueur. It is prepared by combining cognac, cinnamon, black coffee and whipped cream. The coffee is prepared by combining the black coffee with cognac. It is topped with whipped cream and served after sprinkling with cinnamon.
  • French Cocktail Coffee 2: This French Coffee variant uses Crème de cacao and Triple sec and Kahlua. The drink is prepared by combining these ingredients in a shaker which is half filled with ice. The ingredients are mixed until cold and the drink is normally served in a shot glass.
  • Café Bonbon: This coffee variant combines the flavors of mint, and chocolate. The regular cappuccino is mixed with chocolate mint liquor to prepare the drink. The drink is served with whipped cream.
  • French Vanilla Coffee: This French Coffee variant is non-alcoholic and it is prepared by combining confectionery sugar, hot coffee, cold heavy cream and vanilla.
