French Peas

Ingredients
  Butter 2 Tablespoon
  Iceberg lettuce head 1⁄4
  Green onions 2
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Bay leaf 1 Small
  Frozen peas 24 Ounce
  Butter 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Chopped parsley 2 Tablespoon
  Chopped chives 2 Tablespoon
  Salt To Taste
Directions

Heat 2 tbsp. butter in large heavy skillet.
Separate pieces of lettuce and spread them over bottom of skillet to cover as completely as possible.
Add green onions, sugar, pepper and bay leaf.
Put green peas on top of all Cover pan tightly (use foil if it has no lid) and cook over high heat, shaking pan often, about 3 minutes or unti everything is hot and peas are just beginning to get tender.
Lift out and discard pieces of lettuce and bay leaf (don't worry if a little lettuce is mixed with the peas).
Add 1/4 cup butter, parsley, chives and a sprinkling of salt.
Mix all together with a fork.
Serve immediately.
