Fresh Peas In The French Manner

Ingredients
  Peas in pod 2 Pound
  Whole white onions 8 Small, peeled, with a cross cut in the root end
  Boston lettuce leaves/1 bibb lettuce 6 , shredded
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Butter 3 Tablespoon
  Water 3 Tablespoon
  Cornstarch 1 Tablespoon, dissolved in 1 tablespoon cold water
Directions

GETTING READY
1) Shell the peas.

MAKING
2) In a casserole, place the peas along with the other ingredients except cornflour.
3) Cover and cook on highest setting for 8 minutes.
4) Dissolve cornstarch in cold water and stir in gently in the pea mixture ensuring the peas don't break.
5) Cook for a minute.

SERVING
6) Serve hot.
