Turnips Au Gratin
|Turnips||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs), scalded|
|Cheddar cheese||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), grated|
|Dry bread crumbs||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Butter||3 Tablespoon, melted|
Peel turnips and cut into 1/2-inch cubes.
Cook in boiling salted water until just tender.
Drain and put in buttered casserole.
Make sauce of flour, butter and scalded milk.
Cook until thickened.
Add cheese, salt and pepper.
Cook sauce until cheese is melted and pour over turnips.
Top with bread crumbs mixed with melted butter.
Sprinkle with paprika.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
