French Onion Soup

A really delicious, simple onion soup recipe that is good any time of the year.
Ingredients
  Butter 3 Tablespoon
  Extra virgin olive oil 1 Tablespoon
  Onion 3 Large, sliced
  Sugar 3 Tablespoon
  Flour 3 Tablespoon
  Beef broth 80 Ounce
  Water 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Salt and pepper To Taste
  Port 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Burgundy 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Baguette roll 1 , sliced, toasted
  Swiss cheese slices/Mozarella cheese/ gruyere cheese 6
Directions

GETTING READY
1. Preheat the broiler.

MAKING
2. In a soup pot, melt butter along with olive oil. Add onions, cook for few minutes until the onions turn translucent.
3. Add sugar and flour, stir together and cook for about a minute. Pour in beef broth, water, burgundy and port. Season with salt and pepper. Allow to boil, reduce the heat, cover and simmer for a couple of hours.
4. Pour the soup into crocks, place toasted slices of baguette and a cheese slice. Place the crocks on a baking tray, broil for few minutes until the cheese is melted.

SERVING
5. Serve hot with your choice of salad.
