Basic French Onion Soup
|Thinly sliced onions||4 Cup (64 tbs) (Use Large Sized)|
|Butter margarine/Margarine / fat / salad oil||5 Tablespoon|
|Beef bouillon cubes||5|
|Water||5 1⁄2 Cup (88 tbs)|
|Toasts||5 (2 Inch Round)|
|Grated parmesan cheese||2 Tablespoon|
Saute the onions in the butter until they are a rich golden brown, sprinkling them with the pepper while cooking.
Dissolve bouillon cubes in the water, then bring to boil.
Add browned onions and salt.
Continue simmering, covered, for 1 hr.
Place a 2" round of toast in each individual soup dish, and pour on the soup.
Then sprinkle with cheese and serve.
