Basic French Onion Soup

Ingredients
  Thinly sliced onions 4 Cup (64 tbs) (Use Large Sized)
  Butter margarine/Margarine / fat / salad oil 5 Tablespoon
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Beef bouillon cubes 5
  Water 5 1⁄2 Cup (88 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Toasts 5 (2 Inch Round)
  Grated parmesan cheese 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Saute the onions in the butter until they are a rich golden brown, sprinkling them with the pepper while cooking.
Dissolve bouillon cubes in the water, then bring to boil.
Add browned onions and salt.
Continue simmering, covered, for 1 hr.
Place a 2" round of toast in each individual soup dish, and pour on the soup.
Then sprinkle with cheese and serve.
