Classic French Apple Pie
|Nut cookie crust||1|
|Thinly sliced pared tart apples||8 Cup (128 tbs) (9 Medium Pieces)|
|Granulated sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|All purpose flour/Unbleached/whole wheat flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Firm margarine/Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Prepare Nut Cookie Crust.
Heat oven to 425°.
Mix apples, granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
Turn into crust.
Mix 1/2 cup flour, the brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; cut in margarine until crumbly.
Sprinkle over apples.
Cover edge with 2- to 3-inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning.
Bake 15 minutes.
Reduce oven temperature to 350°.
Bake 25 to 35 minutes longer or until apples are tender and mixture begins to bubble.
Cool pie slightly; serve warm.
