Savory French Onion Soup
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|White onions||2 Large, thinly sliced|
|Granulated sugar||1 Teaspoon|
|Mushrooms||4 Ounce, cleaned and sliced (1/4 Pound)|
|Beef broth||6 Cup (96 tbs)|
|Worcestershire sauce||1 Teaspoon|
|Savory seasonings garden blend||1 Tablespoon|
|Ground black pepper||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|French bread slice||8 , sliced 1/2 inch thick dried|
|Swiss cheese slice||8 Small (Baby Slices)|
Melt butter in large saucepan over medium high heat.
Add onions, sugar and mushrooms; saute until onions are transparent.
Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Garden Blend and pepper; stir.
Cover; cook until mixture comes to a boil.
Reduce heat to low.
Cover; simmer 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to broil.
Ladle soup into oven safe bowls.
Add one slice French bread to each bowl; top with slice 'of cheese.
Set bowls on rack under broiler until cheese bubbles and browns.
