French Green Peas

Ingredients
  Iceberg lettuce head 1⁄2 Medium
  Butter/Margarine 3 Tablespoon
  Water 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Yellow onion 1 Small, peeled and chopped
  Fresh green peas/1 package of 10 ounces frozen green peas 2 Pound, shelled to make about 2 cups
  Chopped fresh parsley/1 teaspoon dried parsley 1 Tablespoon
Directions

1. Remove the core and outer leaves of the lettuce. Slice the head into thin shreds.
2. Place the butter, water, sugar, and salt into a 2-quart saucepan. Top with the lettuce, then the onion, then the peas. Sprinkle with the parsley and cover.
3. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer about 10 minutes, or until the peas are tender. Spoon the peas along with any juices into individual dishes.
