|All purpose flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Active dry yeast||1|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Cooking oil||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
In large mixer bowl combine 1 1/2cups of the flour, yeast, and nutmeg.
In saucepan heat milk, sugar, oil, and 3/4 teaspoon salt just till warm (115-120°).
Add to dry mixture in bowl; add egg.
Beat at low speed with electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping bowl.
Beat 3 minutes at high speed.
By hand, stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
Place in greased bowl; turn once.
Cover and chill.
Turn dough out on well floured surface; form into ball.
Cover; let rest 10 minutes.
Roll to 18x12-inch rectangle.
Cut in 3x2-inch rectangles.
Cover; let rise (30 minutes) dough will not be doubled.
Fry in deep hot fat (375°), turning once, till golden, about 1 minute.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
