French Quarter Oyster Sandwich

  Shucked oysters 1⁄2 Pint
  All purpose flour 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Water 1 Tablespoon
  Fine dry bread crumbs 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted
  French bread loaf 1 Small

Drain oysters; dry with paper toweling.
In a bowl combine flour, salt, and pepper.
Coat oysters with flour mixture.
Dip oysters into a mixture of egg and water; roll in bread crumbs.
In skillet fry oysters in half the melted butter till golden, about 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, remove a thin slice from top of bread.
Hollow out loaf, leaving about 1/2 inch bread on all sides.
Brush with remaining melted butter; bake at 400° till golden, about 5 minutes.
Fill with the fried oysters.
Top with bread top.
