French Lentil Soup

One of my family's favorite soups is the French Lentil Soup. The French Lentil Soup is one of the rare soups which my kids do not fuss about. Easy and quick!
  Lentils 480 Milliliter (2 Cups, Dupuy)
  Water 2 Quart (Plus More As Needed)
  Onions 2 , chopped
  Garlic 4 Clove (20 gm), minced
  Bay leaves 2
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon (3 Milliliters)
  Ground cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon (3 Milliliters)
  Ground cumin 2 Teaspoon (10 Milliliters)
  Tomatoes/1 cup / 240 milliliters tomato puree 480 Milliliter, chopped (2 Cups)
  Pepperoncini peppers 4 , diced
  Salt To Taste

Bring lentils and water to boil.
Simmer 1 hour on very low heat.
Add remaining ingredients, except salt.
Add water as needed and simmer over very low flame 1 more hour.
Add salt to taste.
