Spoon some of the ice cream in bottom of four individual dishes.
Arrange poached pear halves, rounded side up, over ice cream.
Top pears with remaining ice cream.
Drizzle hot chocolate sauce over ice cream and pears, or serve the sauce separately.
Garnish with sweetened whipped cream.
Accompany with rolled wafers.
