Baked Corn Au Gratin

  Ears of corn 6 , drained
  Onion 1 Small, finely chopped
  Green pepper To Taste, finely chopped
  Butter/Margarine 3 Tablespoon
  All purpose flour 3 Tablespoon
  Milk 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Shredded american cheese/Shredded mild cheddar cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Eggs 2 , well beaten
  Crushed cornflakes/Crumb butter topping 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste

If fresh corn is used, cut kernels from cob.
In a saucepan, saute onion and green pepper in butter until tender; stir in flour; add milk and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick and smooth.
Remove from heat, stir in the cheese, salt, pepper, sugar, corn, and then the eggs.
Turn into a greased casserole and top with crushed cornflakes or Crumb-Butter Topping.
Set in a shallow pan of hot water and bake in a 350° oven about 45 minutes.
