Indian food in a top restaurant at Ann ArborThere are quite a few good restaurants in Ann Arbor in spire of it being a small college town.  Well known for its academic and multicultural environment due to the presence of University of Michigan, this is a great town for diverse cuisine.

The West End Grill

120 W Liberty St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

This place serves contemporary American cuisine. It is a high end restaurant, a beautiful elegant dining space in the town of Ann Arbor. Things to try on the menu are the Chilean Sea Bass, the Delmonico Steak, and the Filet Bernaise.  Also, the service is fantastic here.  The server brings you a chalkboard with the names of the dishes listed and then categorically goes through describing each dish in detail.

Yamato

403 N 5th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

As the name suggests, this place is very definitely Japanese. It serves some of the best sushi and Nigiri, extremely fresh and tasty. It is a tad bit expensive so if you are on a budget you might want to skip Yamato.  The fish is extremely fresh, the yellow tail roll and the soft shell crab roll are simply fantastic. Don’t miss out on their appetizers, the fried oysters are outstanding.

Frita Batidos

117 W Washington St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

This place serves Cuban cuisine. The atmosphere is modern. The floors and walls are painted white and there are long picnic tables for seating. Frita Batidos is named after two popular Cuban foods, the Frita and the Batidos. A Frita is a burger, typically made from chorizo,  topped with shoestring fries and served on an egg bun. Batidos are fruity milkshakes, made with honey, fruit sweetened milk and crushed ice.  One thing to definitely try here is the friend plantain, which are slathered in cilantro-garlic butter and super delicious.

Shalimar

307 S Main St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

This is probably the best Indian restaurant in Ann Arbor and also one of the top restaurants in Ann Arbor. Try Shalimar for lunch, when prices are much lower but portions remain large. Naan is served free with the meal at lunch and every entree comes with a soup or salad to start with as well as rice and vegetables on the side. Try the butter chicken and let your server know how spicy you would like it. The dinner menu is also first-rate, but you will be paying about $15 per entree instead of $8 or $9 for lunch.

Jerusalem Garden

307 S 5th Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

This place serves Lebanese food. The hummus according to most residents is the best in town. The place is a little cramped but the prices are very affordable making it a big hit with the students. The lentil soup, shish kebab sandwich and the falafel sandwich are the best things to order off the menu here.

Hopefully you will enjoy these top restaurants in Ann Arbor and the food will make you want to come back for more. Depending on your tastes and preferences you have the pick of the lot from the wide variety mentioned above.
