Pan Fried Fish

Ingredients
  Fish fillets/Steaks / 4 pan-dressed fish 2 Pound (Fresh Or Frozen)
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Water 2 Tablespoon
  Crushed saltine crackers/Cornmeal 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Shortening 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Thaw frozen fish.
Cut fillets or steaks into 6 portions.
Combine egg and water.
Mix cracker crumbs or cornmeal, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and dash pepper.
Dip fish into egg mixture, then roll in crumbs.
Heat small amount of shortening in skillet; add fish in single layer.
Fry over medium heat till browned on one side, 4 to 5 minutes.
Turn; brown other side till fish flakes easily when tested with a fork, 4 to 5 minutes more.
Drain on paper toweling.
