|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Enriched flour||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Milk||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten|
Mix sugar, flour, salt; slowly stir in milk.
Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture boils and thickens; cook 2 minutes longer.
Stir a little of hot mixture into eggs; stir into remaining hot mixture; stirring constantly, bring just to boiling.
Add vanilla; cover surface with waxed paper; cool.
Butterscotch Filling: In above recipe, use 2/3 cup brown sugar in place of granulated sugar.
Add 1/4 cup butter with vanilla.
Chocolate Filling: In Cream Filling, add 1 1/2 1 ounce squares unsweetened chocolate, cut up, with milk; increase sugar to 3/4 cup.
