|White sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs), scalded|
|Egg||1 , slightly beaten|
Mix the sugar, flour, and salt together in a small saucepan.
Gradually stir in the scalded milk.
Cook and stir until mixture is thick and smooth.
Remove from the heat and add a little of the hot sauce to the egg.
Stir together and return to the hot mixture.
Cook and stir about 2 minutes.
Add vanilla and butter.
