Basic Cream Filling
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Combine sugar, flour and salt in small saucepan.
Stir in milk gradually, blending until smooth.
Set over low heat and cook and stir until bubbling and thick.
Beat egg lightly and add at least half of hot mixture gradually, stirring constantly.
Stir back into saucepan and bring back to boil.
Remove from heat, cover and cool.
Stir in vanilla.
