Pickled Figs

Ingredients
  Figs 3 Quart (Not Too Ripe)
  Soda 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 6 Cup (96 tbs)
  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Vinegar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1 Tablespoon
  Allspice 1 Tablespoon
  Cloves 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Sprinkle over figs 1/2 cup of soda.
Cover with boiling water and let stand for 3 minutes.
Rinse well and drain.
Make a syrup of sugar, water, vinegar and spices.
Add figs to boiling syrup and boil for 10 minutes.
Set aside for 24 hours.
Heat and boil for 10 minutes.
Set aside for 24 hours.
Heat and boil for 10 minutes.
Seal in jars.
