Noel Wreaths

Ingredients
  Butter/Margarine 1 Cup (16 tbs) (2 Sticks)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Sifted all purpose flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Walnuts 1 1⁄3 Cup (21.33 tbs), finely chopped
  Light corn syrup 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Red candied cherries 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Green candied cherries 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

1. Beat butter or margarine with sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, one third at a time, blending well to make a soft dough.
2. Measure out 1/3 cup of the dough and mix with walnuts and corn syrup in a small bowl; reserve for cooky centers in Step 3.
3. Fit a pastry bag with a small star tip; fill bag with remaining dough. Press out into 1 1/2-inch rings on ungreased large cooky sheets, fill center of each cooky with about a teaspoonful of nut mixture.
4. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 12 minutes, or until lightly golden at edges. Remove carefully from cooky sheets to wire racks; cool completely. Decorate with sliced red and green candied cherries.
