Apple Butter Crumb Bars
|All purpose flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Quick-cooking rolled oats||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Chopped nuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Firm butter/Margarine||1⁄2 Pound, cut into pieces (1 Cup)|
|Apple butter/1 1/2 cups homemade apple butter||16 Ounce (1 Jar)|
In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, oats, nuts, and brown sugar until thoroughly blended.
With a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly and no large particles remain.
Spread half the oat mixture evenly over bottom of an ungreased 9 by 13-inch baking pan and press down lightly.
Spread apple butter evenly over crumb layer, then sprinkle remaining oat mixture over top; press down lightly.
Bake in a 400Â° oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool completely in pan on a rack.
Cut into bars (about 1 1/2 by 2 inches) or squares (about 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 inches).
