12 Medium, peeled and thinly sliced
2 Large (Dripping With Water)
Put butter into frying pan; add sugar, mono-sodium glutamate, and beets.
Spread out the lettuce leaves over beets.
Cover and cook over low heat for 25 minutes.
Remove the lettuce leaves; add salt and pepper, sprinkle on the chives or parsley, and mix well.
