Admittedly most of us do not have much an inkling when it comes to the charm and epicurean delights in Lyon. Lunch - Cheap, wholesome and nothing extravagant! In fact it is surprisingly similar to a home cooked meal. The wine that you order along with it does not cause a dent in your wallet either making you agree wholeheartedly that Lyon is the food capital of the world.


 


Restaurant - The classy Saisons replete with towers, turrets and moats looks like something straight out of the 17th century. The kitchen is ruled by the Zen Chef Alain le Cossec. The establishment also supports a culinary school but the students aren’t allowed into the kitchen. The result? Lyon is the food capital, not without ample reason to do so.


 


Bouchon - A Saturday night out at the Café des Fédérations will give you the most boisterous, unruly and wildest experience ever. Lyon is famous for its Bouchers which means the 'cork on a wine bottle' when loosely translated from French. A fitting way to salute and endorse that Lyon is the food capital.


 


Bread -  A bite into the soft, yeasty, pre-revolutionary French bread that goes by the name of boulangerie is enough to acknowledge that yes! Lyon is the food capital of the world.


 


However, if you happen to go to the city in quest of gastronomic delights you will discover that it is not the city per se, but the many quaint and small eateries and the white clusters of grapes growing at the vineyards are the primary reason for admitting that Lyon is the food capital.
