Lord Krishna's Cuisine
My absolute favourite Vegetarian book is the amazing 800+ page volume - Lord Krishna's Cuisine: The Art of Indian Vegetarian Cooking. I looked at this book several times before I finally bought it after hearing from many friends that it is a must have for anyone serious about Indian cuisine and in particular vegetarian cooking.
One of the best things about this book is that it is quite versatile. This cookbook often gives ideas for substitutions that are easy to come by, without lessening the quality or impact of the recipe. The recipes also don't assume you know something that possibly every Indian knows, but most non-Indians do not - the author is great at throwing light on different techniques-which makes it a must have for young or new cooks. Many Indian girls today do not know how to cook as their mothers and grandmothers or others often did the cooking. They find themselves "in trouble" in the kitchen in college or as brides.
This book is brilliant in the clear and concise recipes! I highly recommend it to anyone wanting excellent guidance in vegetarian cooking, but also non-veg folks just wanting great veg recipes.
