Ingredients and Preparation

Most Kaiser Roll recipes use wheat flour, salt, bar malt, water, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, and pumpkin seeds to create a Kaiser roll that is usually crusty and round.

Preparing a Kaiser roll is relatively simple if the correct recipe and process is followed. Mix the ingredients and prepare the dough, make small rolls, rest them for some time so that they can rise to double in size, roll the dough to make a square, fold the corners of the square inwards till the points meets to make four petals (some of the bakers use metal stamps for this), sprinkle the seeds of choice and bake.

The top surface of Kaiser Roll has the superficial cuts which radiate from the center to outward direction and thus it has segmented patterns in symmetry all around. It looks like a flower when we see it from top. Kaiser roll is generally used to prepare sandwich and goes well with different fillings like sausages and ham.
