Belgian Waffle

Belgian waffles, also known as American waffles are crispy golden brown and scrumptious dessert treats. Unlike other waffles, the Belgian waffles are made from baking powder leavened batter and not from yeast leavened batter. Belgian waffles are found in both the sweet and savory varieties. The sweet waffles, frosted with butter and honey are a rare treat. The savory varieties, served as a side course, may contain meat. Light and crispy Belgian waffles, have not been invented in Belgium, but in America by Maurice Vermersch
