Never Fail Meringue
|Cold water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Combine the first 3 ingredients; cook in the microwave until thick and clear.
Beat egg whites with salt and vanilla until a soft mound is formed.
Add 6 tablespoons sugar gradually, beating well after each addition.
Add cold cornstarch mixture.
Continue beating until meringue is stiff.
Top pie, etc.and follow your recipe to brown.
Mom says you will never have the meringue stick to the knife when you cut the pie.
