Cream the butter, sugar, egg and salt in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Beat in the next 5 ingredients.
Stir in the flour and nutmeg.
Chill, covered, for 8 to 10 hours.
Roll dough into pencil size ropes and shape into figure-eights.
Arrange on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until light brown.
