Swiss Steak With Gravy
|Beef steak||1 Pound, cut 3/4 inch thick|
|Flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Cooking oil||3 Tablespoon|
|Onions||2 , sliced|
|Tomatoes||1 Can (10 oz)|
Season steak with salt and pepper; cover with flour.
Pound with a meat hammer.
Turn; flour and pound until all flour is absorbed by steak.
Melt oil in a heavy skillet; brown onions.
Remove onions; brown steak on both sides in hot oil.
Place onions on top of steak.
Cover; cook slowly 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes or until tender.
Serve with gravy made from drippings.
